Default Prince of Persia (all of them)

Well I've been a Prince of Persia fanatic since I first played the original when I was 6 at my baby sitters house. This game f'in owned. I failed SO many times The first time I beat it I beat it with 2 minutes remaining. My fastest time has improved a bit to 41:32 remaining. This game owns because it can be completed in an hour (in fact, it has to be) and no matter how many times you finish it you're never done. I still consider this to be the greatest game EVER.

So when Prince of Persia sands of time came out I was like WTF stop trying to ruin a perfect game.

I got it just to see how much it sucked and was pleasantly surprised. I expected some lame jump from roof to roof mashing the x button until you finally get to a boss where you mash the x button even more!

It wasn't this type of game, it had a storyline, strategy, a freestyle fighting system (though not nearly free enough), and more. The only thing that annoyed me in this game was f'in chick who always got in my way when I was trying to drag something. The time magic was a little iffy more used as extra lives than anything.

So I beat it and got Warrior within when it came out. At first I hated the fighting system because it WAS just mashing X but then things started blocking and dodging and even jumping in the air landing on my neck and biting me!

The battle system in this game is the best I've ever played. First of all you can use 2 weapons or 1 (the second being taken from an enemy). You can do different things depending on if you have 1 weapon or 2. It was pretty friggin awesome.

The storyline was awesome and the prince randomly shouting taunts at the monsters just made me laugh. The game also had 2 endings which I won't give anything away about those.

Now I'm waiting on the 3rd one.

I don't really know why I made this thread, I had just ALMOST beat my time for the original but I fell off an edge at the end so I basically had no chance and I felt like making this.

Basically I just want to know what you guys think of the game and what your best time for the original was. I might be able to get a link to the Freeware original for you poor deprived people who have NEVER played it.

If anyone knows a site and could post a link that would be awesome, it took me forever to find and I've forgotten the sites name.

Here we go.

http://www.alex-soft.net/

Go there then go to classic games then to Prince of Persia.

Unzip double click Prince etc etc....

I must admit, trying the Sands Of Time on the PS2 was one of the best "Traditional" platformers for a long time. I haven't played POP2 (Original) or POP3D as I heard they weren't good... and the Bonus game Prince Of Persia was ridiculous.

Then when Warrior Within came out as a trial it looked interesting, so I had a bash at that, and it looked quite interesting. Once I got it on the XBOX is was a great game once you mastered the moves in the FFCS. It was also bloody hard as well, some of the bosses even countered your attacks dealing massive damage after a combo of their own.

Got to admit "Decapitating" was one of the funniest things about the game

That and the chugging of "potions" in the game.

Chris, watching the Prince cuhg the potion: "Oh yeah, he just LOVES that, don't he?"

*cough* We don't like to talk about them *cough*

I got bored with the fighting in SoT because the monsters got hard to a certain point then just stayed the same. Once you figured out how to handle each, like those big onces you couldn't jump over or they would throw you off so you'd jump off the wall and hit em etc...

The WW fighting never made me lose interest although I have to admit the graphics probably played a part in this. I got a sense of pride from killing those giant troll things even though it took almost no skill.

It's like PWNED K THX SIT DOWN KID DISBAND YOUR GUILD NOOB.

I'm normal.... Really....

Hey BTW has someone else Goten all the health upgrade shrines and gotten the "water" sword and killed the black big badass monster?
